Welcome to Mrs. Rothwell’s Room

August

We have had a wonderful but early start this year. August began in a whirl of exciting activities starting with back to school story books, school bus painting projects and getting acquainted activities.

        September

Our September

themes were farms, farm animals and apples. We sang farm songs, colored a whole herd of farm animals and even painted a pig with real mud.

For our apple unit we counted apples, we colored apples, we ate apples of red, yellow and green. Our favorite apple activity of all was making homemade applesauce in the classroom and eating it for our afternoon snack, yum, yum.

    October

October began with fire safety week, our classroom learned about fire safety, we had a fire drill and colored bright red fire trucks.

We continued our month with pumpkins and an exciting trip to the pumpkin patch.      We colored pumpkins and ate pumpkin bread for snack. We carved a pumpkin into a funny jack-o-lantern and danced at the ARC’s Carnival and Parade.

November

We are planning themes having to do with fall, colorful leaves, animals preparing for winter and of course, Thanksgiving. We will read the story Stone Soup and make our own homemade vegetable soup complete with a real stone.

     December

We are planning themes having everything to do with the holidays, such as, Christmas trees and cookies and most of all Santa! We will decorate cookies, visit Santa at the Towne West Mall and go to the ARC’s Holiday Tea and Dance. With such an exciting and activity packed fall we will be ready for our winter break.
